My character has to have a ship to function… and why you must be bitch slapped
This is my opinion. Don’t get your panties in a bunch if you get offended by what you read. It’s not going to affect the very fabric of your existence. Trust me.

There is nothing wrong with ships. Some of my best memories of my old characters have been in ships and they are great. But let me let you in on a little secret.
…
Did you know your characters can be single?
*gasp*
No one needs a relationship to function. It’s not healthy, not realistic and if you feel that you’re character needs a boyfriend/girlfriend to live their lives, either your character needs therapy or you need to take a few step back and see what you did wrong.
I’ve had many failed ships (pretty sure Leah has had about eight) but guess what? She does not give a fuck. She’s more worried about getting her money, getting a promotion and controlling her fucking ability, she doesn’t have time for all that. Maybe your character isn’t strong like that and that’s okay. But when you say that your character needs a man so that she can fucking smile I literally want to punch your character in the face.
Your characters can have friends, family, hell, they can have a teacher or a mentor that can help them out of any rut they are in. They can help themselves if the development is right. But that does not mean that they a relationship to do anything, its not necessary. A relationship is not a necessity, its a luxury. Maybe 300 years ago its was a necessity because people believed in the sanctity of a relationship to produce offspring, but guess what? Times have changed. Artificial insemination is a thing and you no longer need to be married to have a child. If you believe that you must, then okay, good for you, but you don’t NEED to be in one. No one truly needs to be in a relationship, its a good thing to be in one, but you don’t need it to sleep, eat and breathe.
So when you say that your character needs a relationship, you know what that tells me? It tells me that you want your character to be shipped, it tells me that every conversation that your character has, that is what they are looking for. That is not realistic, I’m sorry. You don’t talk to anything with a penis and expect a date, do you? No, you don’t. Having your character clinging to the idea that they need a man/woman is unhealthy and ridiculous and its extremely digressive. Don’t put your character through that bullshit simply because you want a ship that badly. If you’re roleplaying simply for ships, wow, just wow. I bid you adieu. Good fucking luck with that.
